UPDATION OF FEEDER BUS PLANNING PACKAGE FOR RAIL BASED MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM

SCOPE OF WORK

  • To develop a generalized package for generating feeder bus plan for Rail Based Mass transit System for any city. The generated feeder plan should consist of feeder public transport routs as per expected station loads, modal split and frequency of operation of MRTS in different phases of implementation.
  • The package should also prepare scheduling plan of feeder public transport system consisting of different type of vehicles with varying capacities to meet the expected feeder trip demand at various levels of service in different horizon years.
  • To prepare the timetable of feeder bus services integrating it with the MRTS operation plan.
  • To improve the logic of the available package as per inputs provided by the RITES.
  • The package should be user friendly, essentially in terms of input data, various constraints, parameters and output.
  • The graphical presentation of output should be GIS based.
  • The package should be compatible to Windows Operating System.
  • To prepare and provide the Manual of the package.

STUDY METHODOLOGY

The stepwise methodology to achieve the desired objectives in a systematic manner comprises of the following important stages :

  •   Study of existing bus transit system to assess the existing travel demand and its pattern.

  •  Study of existing and proposed Road network and proposed MRTS network.

  • Generation of database wherever lacking, through limited field surveys.

  •  Planning of feeder public transport system for the proposed MRTS network.

  •  Preparation of scheduling-plan for the generated feeder public transport system.

  •  Recommendations to restructure the existing bus route network in the light of feeder public transport plan.

  •  Modification of routing plan in light of ground checks and discussion with present bus operating authorities.

  • Recommendations on Institutional arrangements for feeder public transport system.
